1st Miss Korea Visits North Korea

Miss Korea 2007 Lee Ji-seon has become the first top beauty from South Korea to visit North Korea. Lee visited the inter-Korean industrial complex in the North Korean city of Kaesong on Oct. 16.

Lee attended a ceremony marking the completion of construction of the first phase of an industrial zone in the complex overseen by the Korea Land Corporation.

As a representative of young South Korean women, Lee visited the area along with Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung, Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun and lawmaker Park Jin. She said the Korea Land Corporation suggested that she visit Kaesong in order to publicize the complex to young people, and that she did so not as Miss Korea but as a representative of young South Korean people.

Lee said North Korean women she encountered in Kaesong appeared to be very friendly and nice, while North Korean men looked stern.
