Hallyu star Song Hye-kyo teams up with Michelle Yeoh from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Memories of a Geisha" fame to target the Asian public.

According to the film magazine "Variety," Song recently signed a contract with Stella Entertainment, located near Taiwan, for her work overseas.

Stella Entertainment was established by Yeoh, Terrance Chang (who produced "Mission: Impossible 2" and "Face-Off") and entertainment agent David Tang.

Variety magazine wrote that "Song Hye-gyo became extremely popular [with the Asian public] after co-starring with Rain in the TV drama, 'Full House.' She also starred in 'My Girl and I,' as well as 'Hwangjinyi.' She was also cast in the director Sohn Su-beom's independent film which was also his U.S.A. debut, 'Fetish.'"

Song also signed a new contract with Eden Nine, the Korean agency representing Won Bin. Won Bin and Song both plan on more active participation in the Asian entertainment industry.

Actor Jang Hyuk has appeared in top Taiwanese singer Elva's new music video.

According to Jang's management agency, Sidus HQ, the actor stars as Elva's love interest in three of her latest music videos.

The Taiwanese producer of the music video said although it was the first time that the two stars met, they shared great chemistry and delivered an outstanding performance.

Jang became well-known in Taiwan through dramas such as "Successful Story of a Bright Girl" and films like "Introducing My Girlfriend."

Jang, who recently became married, has been cast in the upcoming SBS TV drama series "Tajja" and film "Penthouse Elephant."

Okubo street in Tokyo's trendy Shinjuku district is home to one of Japan's largest Koreatowns and is referred to as the "Hallyu Street."

The June 19th edition of the Oricon News announced the results of a recent survey entitled "Celebrities who Go Well with Okubo Street." SMAP member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi took first place in the male celebrity category while Korean actress Yoon Son-ha nabbed the first spot in the female celebrity category.

In the survey, people said they thought Kusanagi, who is proficient in Korean, would frequent the street to eat Korean food. Meanwhile, people said they could picture Yoon visiting the area to buy Korean groceries and being a regular customer at all of the best Korean restaurants.

Actor Bae Yong-joon took third place and actor Park Yong-ha took sixth place.

Actor and singer Rain (Jung Ji-hoon, 26) has been in Berlin filming a movie, but he will be flying to Tokyo, Japan on the 30th for a free admission meeting with his fans at JCB Hall. His agency, J.Tune Entertainment, recently posted photographs of the celebrity on his website (http://www.rain-jihoon.com).

Rain is in Berlin, Germany, for the filming of the upcoming Joel Silver & Wachowski Brothers flick, "Ninja Assassin," directed by James McTeigue. They are running on a grueling schedule, spending over ten hours a day in action, hoping to wrap the shoot by the end of this month or early June.

Rain's agent in Berlin said that during the day off that the celebrity gets per week, he spends it resting at home or sometimes ventures out to watch a movie.

"Rain is making preparations for the fan event in Japan whenever he has the time," his agent added. "He's very excited to stand in front of his fans again."

A short film directed by actor Yoo Ji-tae has been chosen as one of the "10 Maestros" by the Japanese Short Shorts Film Festival.

SSFF, which is the largest short film festival in Asia, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. This year's festival takes place in Harajuku, Japan and screens some 80 short films from 25 countries around the world over a two-week period.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, SSFF has organized a special event entitled "10 Mastros" that will screen short films by renowned film directors from around the world.

At the 8th annual SSFF in 2006, Yoo submitted a short film entitled "Dreams of the Visually Impaired" in a special program category. Last year, he was invited to the festival as one of the judges and took part in a talk show about Korean and Japanese short films.
