"Hwang Jin Yi," a history drama series on KBS 2TV starring Ha Ji-won, will be broadcast in Japan on NHK's landwave channel.

Wellmade Star M said on August 5 that Hwang Jin Yi will air every Saturday at 11:10 p.m. beginning October 11.

The drama series was first aired on NHK's satellite channel BS2 from April and posted the number one viewer rating out of all the programs aired during the same time slot.

An NHK official said it was rare for a show to be moved from a satellite channel to a landwave channel.

Meanwhile, Ha has become hugely popular in Japan thanks to her two other popular drama series "Damo" and "What Happened in Bali." She held her first fan meeting in Japan in May.

Actress Ha Ji-won Helps Low-Income Youths

Actress Ha Ji-won has been helping the needy, including low-income youths, for the past year.

The Gangnam branch of Healthy Family Support Center said the actress has been taking an active part in the 'Smile Again Project' since December last year to help low-income and disabled children.

Ha Honored as Best Actress at Golden Chest

Actress Ha Ji-won who played the lead in the KBS drama 'Hwang Jini' received the Best Actress award at the 32nd Golden Chest International TV Festival.

She was awarded for her effort in portraying the life and art of the famed Joseon era courtesan. The drama aired from October last year for two months.

The KBS TV2 miniseries "Hwangjinyi" starring actress Ha Ji-won has advanced to the main competition on the 2007 Monte Carlo TV Festival.

The KBS International Cooperation Team said that the series was introduced at the MIPTV in Cannes, France in September last year before it went on the air in Korea, and drew attention from European and Japanese buyers.
