The group Big Bang is taking the K-pop industry by storm. The title track of Big Bang's third mini album "Day by Day" has now topped the "Melon K-pop Chart" for two straight weeks.

The latest album sold 100,000 copies in just two weeks. Other tracks in the album are also climbing the charts. "Heaven" took the fifth spot, "Oh My Friend" the 11th spot, "Sweet Person" took 12th and "Lady" took 17th.

E Hyo-lee's "U-Go-Girl" is following close behind in the second spot, Davich's "Love and War" in the third spot and Seo In-young's "Cinderella" in the fourth spot.

Nineties K-pop icons Seo Taiji, Cool and Eom Jung-hwa also nabbed top spots on the K-pop charts.

The group Big Bang has sold more than 30,000 copies of its third mini album "Stand Up" just two days after it was released on August 8. The album received an order of 85,000 copies from a retail dealer.

The album was completely sold out by 5:00 P.M. on August 9 at major record stores including Evan Records and the Gwanghwamun branch of Hot Tracks. The album was temporarily sold out on major online record stores including YGeshop and Internet Kyobo Book Store.

The manager at a record store said the album is selling at the same rate as Seo Taiji's latest album.

Big Bang's latest album defeated Seo Taiji on the Hanteo Chart and topped the weekly chart. The title song of the mini album "Day by Day" also ranked number one on Cyworld's music chart, MNet.com and Jukeon.

A total of 640,000 online users accessed the music video of "Day by Day" on YG TV, two days after it was unveiled to the public.

"Ingi Gayo," a popular music show on SBS TV, alloted an unprecedented ten minutes for Big Bang's first TV appearance since the album's release.

Taeyang, a member of the popular male vocal group Big Bang, has been invited as the opening act at Alicia Keys' upcoming concert in Seoul.

According to Sony BMG Music, Taeyang will be the first Korean artist to make a guest appearance at Alicia Keys' concert, which will be held at the Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on August 7.

The superstar singer is known for being scrupulous when it comes to selecting guest performers for her concert. For her 2004 Seoul concert, Keys chose Gumy as her opening act.

Taeyang said it was an honor to be invited as the opening act, saying Alicia Keys inspired him greatly when he was an aspiring artist.

Taeyang released his first solo album in May last year and gained popularity as a solo artist as well. Keys, who debuted in 2001 as a composer, lyricist and musical producer, is the winner of five Grammy Awards.

Big Bang member Dae Sung has been cast in the musical "Cats."

Big Bang's management agency YG Entertainment recently announced that Dae Sung was recently cast in Cats as the sexy rebel cat "Rum Tum Tugger."

Since its debut in 1981, Cats has been staged in 30 countries around the world and has been loved by musical fans the world over with its fun and interesting characters as well as its dazzling choreography and catchy tunes. In the musical, Rum Tum Tugger is a naughty male feline who is nevertheless adored by all the cats.

Rehearsals are slated to begin in July and the actual show will be staged at the Charlotte Theater in Jamsil-dong, Seoul from September 19.

Dae Sung recently released a trot-style single entitled "Look At Me, Gwisun" and currently makes a regular guest appearance on "Here Comes the Family" on SBS TV.

The group Big Bang has successfully wrapped up a concert tour in Korea, Thailand and Japan.

The group's management agency, YG Entertainment, said Big Bang's 'Global Warning Tour' at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Thailand on June 7 was a great success. The agency said although it was the group's first-ever concert in Thailand, some ten thousand fans flocked to see their favorite Korean male band and gave the members a standing ovation right from the start of the concert.

Big Bang is just as popular in Thailand as it is in Korea. The group released its first album in the southeast Asian country in September last year. Six months later, four of Big Bang's songs including "Dirty Cash," "Lies," "Always" and "Last Farewell" climbed to the top of Thailand's MTV international chart.

At the Thai concert, Big Bang performed hit song after hit song in front of screaming fans including "No Number," "Shake It," "Lies and "How Gee." Thailand's number one B-Boy team 'Grand Scatter Break' performed alongside the group when it performed "How Gee."

A number of music industry moguls were also present at the concert including the president of Sony Music Thailand. Die-hard fans from other southeast Asian countries including Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam also traveled to Thailand to attend the concert.

The 5-member group Big Bang has released its Japanese album "With U" simultaneously in Japan and Korea.

"With U" is the group's second mini-album following the January release of its Japan debut album, "For the World." In Korea, the second mini-album will be available through online music services such as Melon, Dosirak and MNet.

Big Bang's G. Dragon worked with producers Perry and Teddy on "With U." The 8-track album is funky modern pop and includes the English version of the Korean hit "Last Farewell," plus G. Dragon's solo "This Love" and Tae Yang's solo, "Ma Girl."

Conversational in Japanese, Tae Yang also sings "Ma Girl" in Japanese and mixes Japanese and English in his song, "Mad About You."

In March, Big Bang held a successful concert with 10,000 fans at the Tokyo JCB Hall, and their popularity can also be witnessed in the instant response to their "With U" music video.

The music video was uploaded on the YouTube website and it received the most hits of the day in the 'musicians' category. "They were also ranked third on weekly hits," announced YG Entertainment Agency.

The five-member idol group Big Bang once again nabbed the number one and two spots on a yearly music chart released by Hanteo.

According to the company, Big Bang's first album, which contains the group's hit song "Lies," took the number one spot with sales of 87,000 copies, while the group's second album with the hit song "Last Goodbye" took the number two spot with sales of 81,000 copies. Despite the ongoing slump in the album market, the sales of the two albums put together have exceeded 168,000 copies.
