Big Bang Signs Modeling Contract with FILA Korea

Members of the male vocal group Big Bang have been chosen as models for Italian sports brand FILA. FILA Korea recently said it has signed a modeling contract with the fashion-savvy members of the popular group.

"Day by Day," the title song of the third album released by five-member male vocal group Big Bang, has topped the "Melon Music Chart" for four straight weeks since it was released on August 6. Previously, Big Bang topped various K-pop charts last year for more than six weeks with "Lies" and "Last Goodbye."

The group Big Bang is taking the K-pop industry by storm. The title track of Big Bang's third mini album "Day by Day" has now topped the "Melon K-pop Chart" for two straight weeks.

The latest album sold 100,000 copies in just two weeks. Other tracks in the album are also climbing the charts. "Heaven" took the fifth spot, "Oh My Friend" the 11th spot, "Sweet Person" took 12th and "Lady" took 17th.

E Hyo-lee's "U-Go-Girl" is following close behind in the second spot, Davich's "Love and War" in the third spot and Seo In-young's "Cinderella" in the fourth spot.

Nineties K-pop icons Seo Taiji, Cool and Eom Jung-hwa also nabbed top spots on the K-pop charts.

The group Big Bang has sold more than 30,000 copies of its third mini album "Stand Up" just two days after it was released on August 8. The album received an order of 85,000 copies from a retail dealer.

The album was completely sold out by 5:00 P.M. on August 9 at major record stores including Evan Records and the Gwanghwamun branch of Hot Tracks. The album was temporarily sold out on major online record stores including YGeshop and Internet Kyobo Book Store.

The manager at a record store said the album is selling at the same rate as Seo Taiji's latest album.

Big Bang's latest album defeated Seo Taiji on the Hanteo Chart and topped the weekly chart. The title song of the mini album "Day by Day" also ranked number one on Cyworld's music chart, MNet.com and Jukeon.

A total of 640,000 online users accessed the music video of "Day by Day" on YG TV, two days after it was unveiled to the public.

"Ingi Gayo," a popular music show on SBS TV, alloted an unprecedented ten minutes for Big Bang's first TV appearance since the album's release.

Taeyang, a member of the popular male vocal group Big Bang, has been invited as the opening act at Alicia Keys' upcoming concert in Seoul.

According to Sony BMG Music, Taeyang will be the first Korean artist to make a guest appearance at Alicia Keys' concert, which will be held at the Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on August 7.

The superstar singer is known for being scrupulous when it comes to selecting guest performers for her concert. For her 2004 Seoul concert, Keys chose Gumy as her opening act.

Taeyang said it was an honor to be invited as the opening act, saying Alicia Keys inspired him greatly when he was an aspiring artist.

Taeyang released his first solo album in May last year and gained popularity as a solo artist as well. Keys, who debuted in 2001 as a composer, lyricist and musical producer, is the winner of five Grammy Awards.
