Singer Kang Ta (29) officially began his military duties on April 1 in Euijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.

Kang Ta held a farewell concert for his fans at the Main Hall of Yonsei University late last month. The day he was stationed at his military base, Kang Ta, showing off a short crew cut, said goodbye to his fans and said he will diligently fulfill his military duties.

Former H.O.T.-member Kang Ta will enlist for active duty April 1st. According to his management, his military enlistment was confirmed not too long ago.

Ratings for the Chinese drama "Happy Times for the Jung-ka Women" climbed to number 1 among CCTV viewers during the national festival holiday. The show aired October 1st through 7th and drew such a positive response that re-runs are now slated to air during the lunar new year holiday.

Singer Kang Ta, whose popularity has soared in the Chinese-speaking region, will appear in a special TV drama that will be produced by Chinese broadcaster CCTV.

Kang's agency, SM Entertainment, said the drama will mark China's National Day on October 1.
