Nothing I could add the the outpouring of positive vibrations surrounding this funny, touching, fabulously engrossing drama could possibly do it justice. From the screenplay, to the direction of PD Lee, to the charming backdrops, the acting of each of the principal and supporting actors, the perfectly inspired soundtrack, and the international buzz created from the staggeringly unique performance of the seemingly limitless Yoon Eun Hye....this is Korean Drama at it's very best!! The numbers don't lie, and, as each vehicle is generally only as successful as it's star's ability to drive it; Coffee Prince, in it's infancy, could never even hope to have been able to benefit so much from one actress' rejection of a project to it's acceptance by another, unjustly dismissed, actress. With the lead role of Coffee Prince set to be awarded to the star of 200 Pounds of Beauty's Kim Ah-jung, fate, in the form of a contract with a hair care product that strictly forbade Miss Kim from shearing her locks, set the wheels in motion whereby the too-lightly-estimated product that is Yoon Eun Hye to turn away from her former (and too stingy and visionless) parent company and it's offer to star in Que Sera, Sera for an amount much less than is commensurate with her considerable talents and mass appeal. The company's loss became the world's gain!
As intimated before, a vehicle is only as good at reaching it's final destination as the driver's ability to get it there. And this vehicle sped to the finish line utilizing capable talents of the incredible Yoon Eun Hye. Never mind any other conjecture; there is, and only ever can be one "My Chan", "Your Chan"..."Our Chan." From the first moment that the slightly built, amazingly capable "Go Eun Chan" ripped off that motor cycle helmet and exclaimed to the ladies at the bathhouse. "I'm a girl!", the character became her and she the character.
And, oh what a girl! Can there be a limit to the potential of this singer/actress/model/spokesperson/idol/role-model? I'm not certain of the answer to that inquiry, but I am sure of this; I'll be along for every step of the way to find out. If First Shop Coffee Prince ends up being the high water mark in the career of fabulous Miss Yoon....it'll still be very, very deep water, indeed. Only the strongest of swimmers dare brave the kinds of depths such as these. But I'm certain that she could it while carrying Gong Yoo (and maybe even Lee Eon)on her back.
Without question my favorite long running daily drama and my favorite character ("Yang Gukwha" played by Ku/Goo Hye Sun) of all time. From the first time my eyes met the plucky, sweet, never-say-die Gukwha, I couldn't take my eyes off of her and lived nearly every day for the 30 minutes when I could laugh, cry, worry, and smile at the day to day antics of this hopelessly naive, but unbelievably charming young lady. So relentless is she in her zeal to make everything work out for even her most vindictive of her detractors, that, in the end, each is won over, and in surrendering to her sweetness; each is forever altered for the better. She melts the heart of her long frozen "Iceman" boss and future husband,(played amazingly by Suh Ji Suk) repairs the marriage between her battling in-laws and, along with fellow angel come to earth ex-brother-in-law, Hong Ugyeong (played by Lee Min Woo) makes a capable and loving person out of the beautiful, but hopelessly spoiled and superficial Park Yunjeong (played by fellow KBS best new actress award winner, Lee Yoon Ji [Whoose visage is my avatar!] I invite you to join this perfectly mismatched group throughout the entirety of these 167 all-too-short episodes. Let the character of Yang Gukwha charm, delight, and improve your lives as she has done for mine. A better friend, sister, girlfriend you will never find. If the were more people like her....there would be more people like her!!!
Can't wait to see my beautiful angel (Eugene) when the series starts tonight in L.A.! It looks like the fun one. The little girl looks just like my next-door neighbor's toddler. So cute!
Funny, athletic, gorgeous, and tough as nails. This is one actress who will willingly suffer for her art. And her sacrifices have only made us love and admire her that much more. I don't think that there is a role out there that this lady could not tackle. (Other than maybe being Go Eun Chan...that one belongs to one person, and one person only!!!) Thanks for being the one and only Kim Sun Ah. We are all humbled by your immense talents. Keep on knocking us out!
Just too cute and talented to have her grow up this fast. I wish that she could stay a kid for another ten years. A talented actress whose works are always enjoyable for me to watch. Thank you, Moon Guen Young, for being our favorite "little sister!"
Like an angel who came to earth!!! Her smile is like sunshine and her sweetness as pure as honey. Everybody's favorite girl next door. That is if the the girl living next door to you is the homecoming queen! I love you, Kim Eugene!!
One of the most alluring, beautiful actresses in all of the world. Her popularity is only outdone by her memorable, tear-inducing performance in the majestic. "Gone With the Wind" of Korean dramas, the fabulous Winter Sonata. Choi Ji Woo's big, beautiful, often tear-drenched eyes are burned into my soul like the strands of my own DNA. She is a vision to behold and holds herself as elegantly as the most beloved princess of any fairy tale. CJW, like her most famous work, is utterly breath-taking and both will forever be the standard by which all Korean actresses and dramas will forever be judged.
While channel-surfing one fateful day some two or so years ago, I came across the lovely face of Jung Ryu Won as the the quirky, but irresistible country bumpkin "Kim Bokshil" in Which Star Did You Come From. My life, as I knew it, has never been the same since! I drawn into the incredible rabbit hole that is Korean Drama with it's glamorous and beautiful actresses, breath-taking backdrops, and stories of romance, greed, sorrow, and inevitable happiness, in which lessons were taught and learned and the good guys nearly always win. I will forever be indebted to this actress and to the pig-tailed "Bokshil" for inviting me into her world. I've fallen and I don't want to get up!!!
My personl favorite of all Korean actress/personalities. She stole my heart as "Yang Gukwha" in Pure in Heart and still owns it. Her character was just the sweetest, kindest persona and should be an example to all things human on how to comport one's self in the world. The way that this beauty can contort her face in so many wild directions and have it return her own naturally lovely countenance is just mind-boggling. Goo Hye Sun is like a force of nature. To think that her whole career began as a few "ullzang" shots and has snowballed like it has is just incredible. Thank you "Gukwha" for being our little Gukwha!!!
Pretty, funny, sexy, bubbly...I love her personality. She's always the life of the party!
Cute, natural, pretty, gorgeous, sparkling....a knockout with a great smile and a disarming personality!!! Loved her as "Jisu" in By Land and Sky.
Yoon Eun Hye is, quite simply; the best, the cutest, and the most versatile talent that the 'Korean Wave" has to offer! She's won awards in every area that she's delved into, is beloved and idolized by millions of men, women, and children, the world over, and is one of the most sincere, humble people on the planet. All of this by the tender age of twenty three!! I await each of her appearences with great anticipation and she has never failed to impress even the most cynical of judges (at least, those willing to own up to the truth!)
And she's also a great wrestler!!!
Keep up the great work, YEH. Fighting!
I see no reason for her to apologize....and THANK YOU!!!!
